The Youth Department verses the adults. The loser would be honey and\nfeathered. I lost. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Placed\nforcefully in the bed of a truck they poured honey, molasses, and syrup over\nme. Then came the feathers. Everyone laughed. I laughed, pretending it was fun.\nWhen I thought it was over, the truck started, and I was driven throughout the\ntown while the driver of the truck honked the horn. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">In&nbsp;the book, <em>Leading with a Limp<\/em>, Dan Allender says, \u201cNo one is humble by nature\u2026. Humility comes\nfrom humiliation, not from the choice to be self-effacing or a strong urge to\ngive others the credit. Humility that has not come from suffering due to one\u2019s\nown arrogance is either a pragmatic strategy to get along with others or a\nnatural predilection that seems to befit only a few rare individuals. For most\nleaders, humility comes only by wounds suffered from foolish falls.\u201d (p69-70)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">That man who introduced me never saw my\nfailures that still\u2014to this day\u2014haunt me. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Today, I am writing a scene where a man is\nreminded of his sins, yet still has to be responsible for someone else\u2019s\nirresponsible behavior.&nbsp; He fears the\nfuture actions of another while regretting his own actions of the past. In\nother words, he tries to control a lighted keg of dynamite when he wants to\nexplode. How does a man respond to that kind of stress? One man is humbled,\nshaped by the failures of his past; the other is prideful and oblivious to his\nsin. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">In my day to day humiliations I wonder, which\nman am I?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A Humbled Chicken&#8230; A man once introduced me as \u201cthe most humble man he knows.\u201d It made me feel uncomfortable and only brought to mind all my sins just before I was about to preach.
